Ben
Ben is an English student and probably the least dysfunctional
of the regular gang, because he has at least some intelligence and
the fewest mental problems. He is regularly the one who is questioning
and obsessing about all the weirdness around him, and seems to be mother hen
of the group.
Eleanor
Unless you are prepared to praise her, discuss feminism with her or
lock intellectual horns with her, Eleanor will probably not have time
for you. Eleanor is a serious faced Law student who isn't to be messed
with - many is the man who has tried to alleviate the burden of her stony
face with a cheeky gag about women and found themselves staring at the
ceiling in the casualty ward.
Gav
If you look up 'superficial' in the dictionary, it won't have a
description of Gav (that would be silly), but it ought to have. He is
a role model for the shallow and self-obsessed everywhere. Gav is trying
to sail through University on the easy ride that is Media Studies, but even
this is too much work for him.
Jimmy
Jimmy is a member of that most overworked variety of student, the
Engineer. This is then surprising when you realise that Jimmy is
the one who drinks more beer in one night than George Best, Oliver Reed
and Richard Harris combined ever did in a 48-hour long bender. Jimmy sees
drinking, kebabs and a messy room as necessary distractions from the horrors
he must face on his course.
Marcus
Marcus belongs to the strangest group of students other than Philosophists,
namely Computer Scientists. He has no interest in anything
that doesn't contain a microchip and cannot communicate with anything that
doesn't have a mouse and keyboard. His lack of social awareness therefore can
infuriate or worry you depending on what social activity he is unable
to do.
